The Macmillan UK 4x4 Challenge Event - www.mac4x4.co.uk

After reading about the event in one of the many off road magazines I began to think that there was more to just playing in the car on organised play days.  Described as a gruelling 2 day non stop event held both on and off the road it did indeed sound like like hard work, but also fun.  Having worked for a time with my good friend Mike Walker driving cars together we thought entering the event a good idea.

2004

As part of Team Mud-Club, we entered but disappointingly had to retire early for personal reasons.  For once the car did not let us down.

2005

After learning much and still undaunted, Mike and I returned to the event in 2005 and spent 48 hours driving around what seemed most of the mountains in Wales.  Despite overheating on a mountain side at 1 o'clock in the morning in the middle of a blizzard, and only having 2 hours sleep over the whole weekend, we reached the finishing line in Manchester with enough points to secure a victory.

2006

Another fantastic competition.  We started a day early this year, the reason being that on the Friday night we ended up at Fishguard.  Whilst some competitors were thinking of settling down for the night in the car park, tickets for the overnight ferry to Ireland were handed out!!  Saturday was spent hurtling through Eire hading for the return ferry from Dublin to Holyhead.  A snowy Sunday morning followed in Snowdonia before we again finished in Manchester with enough points to win overall first place for the second year in a row!!
